Don Charles has added some more heavyweight artillery to his already hard hitting stable with former opponent of Anthony Joshua
Don Charles has largely been commended for his excellent work with heavyweights.
Most notably in recent times, Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21ko’s).
Many fight fans argued that Dubois had a lack of self belief and was lost before teaming up with Don Charles.
The run that the pair went on together saw Don Charles collect the 2024 British Boxing trainer of the year award.
A 10th round stoppage of the durable Jarrell Miller (27-1-2, 22ko’s) was followed by the two standout wins in the career of Dubois so far.
The man from Greenwich stopped Filip Hrgovic (19-1, 14ko’s) in an IBF world title final eliminator.
Soon after, Dubois was elevated to full champion, and knocked out Anthony Joshua (29-4, 27ko’s) in front of a sold out Wembley Stadium.
After his recent defeat to Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15ko’s), Dubois announced he had split with Don Charles.
In the following months, the hard hitting heavyweight teamed up with Tony Sims briefly, before reconciling with Don Charles ahead of his world title fight against Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19ko’s).
It now seems that the gym has welcomed another heavyweight who is in a high stakes fight in the near future.
Boxing King Media can reveal that Jermaine Franklin is using Don Charles gym facilities in Borehamwood ahead of his fight this month.
Franklin will still be trained by long-standing head coach Jesse.
Despite allowing them to use his facilities, due to his loyalties to Queensberry, Daniel Dubois and Tony Yoka, Don Charles is not involved in the training camp.
‘The Michigan heavyweight has moved to the UK and is working with the renowned “heavyweight specialist” at ‘The Farm’ ahead of his March 28 clash with Moses Itauma in Manchester.
Jermaine Franklin (24-2, 15ko’s) is best known for going the distance with Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte (31-4, 21ko’s).
Experts believe the man from Michigan has the durability to give rounds to one of Britain’s future stars in Moses Itauma.
