Dmitry Bivol has revealed his plans ahead of his return to the sport.
Dmitry Bivol has been out of action since his rematch with Artur Beterbiev in February 2025.
Bivol outpointed Beterbiev 114-114, 116-112 and 115-113 on the judges’ scorecards to avenge his lone career loss.
In doing so, he was crowned the new undisputed light-heavyweight world champion.
Although he no longer holds undisputed status with David Benavidez now in possession of the WBC belt, Bivol has undeniably cemented his dominance at 175lbs throughout his professional career.
Following a stint on the sidelines recovering from back surgery for an old injury, the pound-for-pound star is now weighing up the best path back to success,
Which he has revealed could involve tipping the scales closer to 200lbs.
During an interview at the Ring Magazine awards this week, Bivol explained: “You know, in my head, I want to be more remembered in this sport until I have some power in my heart.
“And about achievements, I would like to have another belt and another weight class category.
“Maybe cruiserweight, why not?”
The 35-year-old is expected to make his return to the ring in the spring.
For now, Dmitry Bivol has been ordered to defend his IBF light-heavyweight title against mandatory challenger Michael Eifert.
It appears his focus will be on Eifert for the time being, before he can then firmly set his sights on pursuing his ambitions up at cruiserweight.
