Haney signs deal with the streaming app.
Amongst the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, Devin Haney exists as one of the most curious. That’s because–unlike a lot of the top boxers–we have seen him at his worst, seen him in fights that many have declared to be amongst the most dull they have ever seen.
In fact, we even officially saw him lose, and in dominant fashion, too. Now, of course, his defeat at the hands of Ryan Garcia was overturned to a no-contest–and rightly so, given Garcia’s failed drug test–but the image of him groggily rising from three heavy knockdowns still lives inside our minds.
Not that it really matters, considering that in November, we saw Haney return with a convincing decision over Brian Norman Jr., a then-unbeaten knockout artist who was considered the favourite going in.
With the win, Haney collected his foe’s WBO welterweight title, becoming a three-weight titleholder in the process. And immediately, those who doubted him quietened down, for he clearly had quite a bit left after the Garcia fight.
And since that victory, the American’s next moves have been a subject of much speculation. But in recent weeks, the picture has become much clearer, and we now have a pretty good idea of what he will be doing when he returns to the ring.
Ahead of his next appearance, he has now signed a multi-fight deal with DAZN, meaning his fights will now be shown on the streaming platform.
With the move, DAZN reportedly beat Zuffa Boxing to signing him, and it is expected that Haney’s next fight will be a mandatory title defence against Keyshawn Davis, which could very well prove to be nothing short of a fantastic spectacle.
