Devin Haney is eyeing up unifications against his fellow champions in the welterweight division, but he now has an offer to face a title-holder from the super-lightweight scene.
WBC welterweight world champion Devin Haney has been called out by a title-holder at his former weight class, for a potential clash up at 147lbs.
Haney became the undisputed lightweight champion when he twice overcame George Kambosos Jr. in Australia but he moved up to super-lightweight the following year, after defeating the legendary Vasyl Lomachenko.
‘The Dream’ then dethroned Regis Prograis to get his hands on the WBC super-lightweight title but did not make a successful defence of the belt before moving to welterweight in 2025.
In November, Haney trumped Brian Norman Jr. to claim the WBO welterweight crown with one of the performances of the year, reaffirming his status as a pound-for-pound star and throwing down the gauntlet to his newfound rivals at 147lbs.
However, whilst Haney is looking towards potential title unifications at welterweight, IBF super-lightweight champion Richardson Hitchins is eyeing up a scrap with his fellow undefeated American.
On X, Hitchins called for a fight with Haney, who showed little interest in accepting the offer.
RH – “@Realdevinhaney I wanna fight you. F**k Dalton Smith.”
DH – “U call out everybody… to fight nobody! Me, Keyshawn, Teo, Matias, Gary Russell, Brian Norman, Jamaine Ortinz, Frank Martin, you just be clout chasing bro! Get in the field f**k boy.”
RH – “I called you and Teo out f**k ni**a. Everyone else called me out. Pay attention before you speak and I’m willing to fight anybody and you definitely first in line. I will smoke you!
DH – “U turned down 1.5 million to fight Keyshawn and then 2… but then turned around & accepted 700k to fight Jamaine Ortiz! You’re a [duck]. If I’m lying I’m dying.”
Despite Hitchins’ call-out of Haney, it seems that he will next face undefeated Mexican and current mandatory challenger, Lindolfo Delgado, after the IBF ordered the contest.
