The long rumoured heavyweight clash between Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora is now officially confirmed.
The long rumoured heavyweight clash of Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora is now officially confirmed.
The announcement was made by Kalle Sauerland, who revealed that the fight will headline MF Pro’s first ever show, marking a major moment for the new promotional banner.
It is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 4, at The O2 Arena, with the event set to be broadcast live globally on DAZN.
Boxing King Media had previously revealed exclusively that the event would be promoted by MF Pro, the professional boxing arm connected to the Misfits brand.
However, Sauerland’s confirmation now clarifies that the show will also be broadcast live on DAZN and promoted in association with Queensberry Promotions, adding another powerful layer to the event’s structure.
The involvement of Queensberry is particularly notable given the contractual situation surrounding Derek Chisora.
In recent months, Chisora publicly claimed that he was contract free, leading to speculation that he was able to move independently into this bout.
However, Frank Warren later confirmed to IFL TV that Chisora was still under contract with Queensberry, sparking confusion across the boxing industry.
With Queensberry now officially listed as part of the promotion, it appears that an agreement has been reached behind the scenes, allowing the fight to move forward with all parties aligned.
The situation once again underlines a familiar truth in boxing, Frank Warren is not a man to take lightly when it comes to contracts, and very little happens at heavyweight level without his involvement.
The bout has been officially labelled “100”, a reference to the extraordinary milestone it represents.
This fight will be Deontay Wilder’s 50th professional bout and will also be Derek Chisora’s 50th professional bout.
Together, the two heavyweights bring 100 professional fights into the ring a rare and historic achievement at elite level.
Promoted as a heavyweight throwback blockbuster, Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora pits two of the most recognisable and explosive heavyweights of the modern era against each other on one of boxing’s biggest stages.
Deontay Wilder, the former WBC heavyweight champion, remains one of the sport’s most feared punchers, while Chisora continues to defy expectations with his durability, aggression and willingness to take on the toughest challenges.
With the venue locked, broadcasters confirmed and promotional heavyweights aligned, Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora is now officially on and April 4 is shaping up to be one of the most talked about nights in heavyweight boxing this year.
