The Briton is pursuing a new route.
Denzel Bentley has opted to relinquish his title and sign a multi-fight deal with Zuffa Boxing.
This news follows Warriors Boxing’s win of the purse bid to stage Bentley’s WBO-mandated fight with mandatory challenger Yoenli Hernandez yesterday.
The promoter submitted the minimum winning bid of $200,000 to secure the right to stage the fight.
Bentley’s former promoters, Queensberry, attended the purse bid ceremony but did not submit an offer.
The 31-year-old was reportedly unhappy with the prospect of facing Hernandez for around $160,000, representing 80 per cent of the purse.
He has since opted to vacate his WBO title and sign with Zuffa.
Following Hamzah Sheeraz, the Londonder has become the second WBO champion to relinquish his belt after deciding the money on offer wasn’t enough to justify the mandatory defence.
As Dan Rafael first reported, Bentley will make his Zuffa debut on November 7.
The 22-3-1 fighter, who has 18 knockouts, will feature on the Zuffa Boxing 12 card in London.
The event takes place at the Copper Box Arena and is headlined by Chris Billam-Smith vs Cheavon Clarke.
The former WBO cruiserweight champion faces Clarke over 10 rounds in the main event.
As it stands, an opponent for Bentley has yet to be announced.
