David Adeleye has declared his interest in saving the day this Saturday, after Lawrence Okolie’s failed VADA test.
David Adeleye (14-2, 13ko’s) is beginning to gain the reputation of a man that takes on all comers.
His resume reads Fabio Wardley, Solomon Dacres, Jeamie TKV, and Filip Hrgovic, in that order.
For a man with very little amateur pedigree, that is extremely impressive.
The 29 year old’s victories over Dacres and TKV suggest that he is that cut above the domestic scene.
Could this be a pathway to the heavyweight top table?
In breaking news this morning, WBC number one ranked Lawrence Okolie (23-1, 16ko’s) has returned an adverse analytical finding in a VADA Anti Doping test.
Subsequently, the Londoner is out of his scheduled fight with Tony Yoka (15-3, 12ko’s) this Saturday in Paris.
Whilst Okolie now has a battle to clear his name on his hands, this has opened up a door for someone else.
Promoter of the event Frank Warren declared his desire to find a replacement for Yoka to talkSPORT this morning.
One man that has put his name in the hat is David Adeleye.
Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans about potentially stepping in, Adeleye has stated:
“All day!”
“That’s why you got to stay fight ready at all times”.
“Bag has got to be right though”.
Two of Adeleye’s last four fights have been on Riyadh Season events in Saudi Arabia.
Adeleye’s bargaining stance for his negotiations will come from the point of ‘saving the show’.
This will likely result in an inflated purse for the West Londoner.
Warren issued his want for the replacement to be a British fighter, so ‘Big D’ may just be the front runner.
With this upcoming run of events being billed as ‘heavyweight season’ on DAZN, many of Warren’s heavyweights are already scheduled to fight.
This story is moving at fast pace, and an update will be revealed very soon.
