Dave Allen set to headline Queensberry show

Dave Allen is set to return to the ring against a top 15 heavyweight, on a Queensberry promotion Eddie Hearn has confirmed.

One of British boxing’s good guys Dave Allen (25-8-2, 20ko’s) has had a resurgence in recent years.

Allen has always been criticised for his dedication and discipline in the sport.

Nicknamed as ‘The White Rhino’, Allen has suffered defeats to credible opponents like Dillian Whyte, David Price and Tony Yoka.

Just a few years ago, it seemed Allen was at the end of the road boxing wise.

In a crazy turnaround, Allen is on the cusp of a major payday.

A rematch victory in front of a packed out Copper Box arena in 2025 put Allen back on the map.

Subsequently, the man from Doncaster headlined Sheffield Arena, and despite facing defeat to Arslanbek Makhmudov, his stock as a ticket seller is at an all time high.

In a scrum interview, Eddie Hearn has revealed “It’s a top 15 opponent, it’s a Queensberry heavyweight, it will be a Queensberry show in association with Matchroom”.

The rumour mill has suggested Zhilei Zhang (27-3-1, 22ko’s) is likely to be the frontrunner.

Nicknamed as ‘Big Bang’, Zhang is a well known feature of the heavyweight division.

Despite two defeats in his last three fights, these have been at the elite level of the sport.

Zhang is very heavy handed, especially early in fights.

His last endeavors in the UK saw him brutally defeat Joe Joyce twice.

A location has not been confirmed for Dave Allen’s return, but an announcement is likely for next week.
