Dave Allen set for stadium homecoming in Queensberry and Matchroom co-promotion

British fan favourite Dave Allen will realise a life-long dream of his this May, as the White Rhino is set for an emotional stadium homecoming fight.

Dave Allen (25-8-2, 20ko’s) is about to fulfil a lifelong dream of his

‘The White Rhino’ is undoubtedly one of Britain’s cult heroes in recent times.

His laid back personality and honest persona has captured fans support.

Despite this, Allen has never hit the heights that so many thought he could.

A fighter with an incredible boxing IQ, Allen has shared the ring with some of the division’s very best.

To name a few, Dillian Whyte (31-4, 21ko’s), Tony Yoka (15-3, 12ko’s) and Luis Ortiz (35-3, 30ko’s)are all names on the resume.

Just a few years ago, it seemed Allen was done in boxing.

But it’s safe to say the man from Doncaster has had a brilliant resurgence.

A rematch knockout victory over Johnny Fisher saw him pen a multi-fight contract with Matchroom Boxing.

Selling out Sheffield Arena was next for the White Rhino, and despite this ending in defeat to Arslanbek Makhmudov, arguably his star power has still increased.

Now it seems Allen will roll the dice at world level again.

First reported by Boxing UK,  Filip Hrgovic (19-1, 14ko’s) will be facing Dave Allen, in a Queensberry Promotions and Matchroom Boxing co-promotion.

With an official announcement set for next week, our sources suggest that this heavyweight spectacle will take place at Doncaster Rovers Football Club, the ECO Power Stadium on May 16th.

Whilst Allen has always been modest in character about goals and dreams, the man from Doncaster has always expressed his wish to headline in his hometown.

The White Rhino has surprised himself in his ability to keep this news under wraps during negotiations.

But with an official announcement imminent, it seems ‘The Doncaster De La Hoya’ has the opportunity of a lifetime.

The always honest and transparent Allen has sometimes expressed his lack of motivation, but could he have his crowning moment in front of his home fans this May?

One thing is for sure, if you told British boxing fans five years ago that Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren would be co-promoting a Dave Allen stadium homecoming, very few would believe you.
