Dave Allen fights Filip Hrgovic this Saturday in Doncaster, and should he pull off the upset, he wants Tyson Fury next.
David vs Goliath, it will be one of the upsets of the year if Allen can defeat top five Ring Magazine heavyweight Filip Hrgovic.
Allen has been guilty in the past of cutting corners in training, and has openly spoken about previous discipline problems.
However, it seems the man from Doncaster has prepared like never before for this opportunity of a lifetime.
Not only is it the chance to break into the elite level of the blue ribbon division, he also gets to do it on home turf at Doncaster Rovers Football Club.
In true Dave Allen fashion, he’s openly spoke about the possibilities of losing this Saturday.
At the end of the day, it’s a feeling he is used to when stepping up the levels.
Dillian Whyte, Tony Yoka, Luis Ortiz, are all world class names Allen has fallen short to in the past.
His most recent defeat was to the hands of Arslanbek Makhmudov, in a fight that was competitive at times.
If the White Rhino was in better shape, he could’ve been victorious that night, and ultimately what come next for the victor was massive.
Makhmudov welcomed Tyson Fury back into the ring after a 16 month hiatus, in front of 60,000 at Tottenham Hotspur.
Fury is now signed to fight Anthony Joshua at the end of the year, but the Gypsy King has not ruled out an interim fight.
Dave Allen told Sky Sports: “If I beat Hrgovic, Tyson Fury is getting called out,”.
“Even if I lose to Hrgovic but put a good fight up, I want the Fury fight.”.
“I’ll do what I can but it’s going to be hard work,” Allen said of Hrgovic.
“Another Olympic medallist, the fourth Olympic medallist I’ve faced in my career. I’ve boxed everybody”.
“I’m buzzing for it, I’m excited for it, I’m not under no pressure. All the pressure’s on Filip. I’ve just got to go out there, do my best, try my best and that’s enough.”
