Dave Allen announces quick return to the ring

Dave Allen has announced he will make a quick return to the ring next month after a crushing three round beatdown from Filip Hrgovic.

It was a three round beating inflicted on Dave Allen from Filip Hrgovic on Saturday, to no surprise of many.

Dave Allen is turning into a British cult hero, the personality and honest nature has captured the imagination of the British public.

That was emphasised by ten thousand packing out the Doncaster Rovers stadium on Saturday.

It was a brilliant atmosphere and ring walk by the hometown hero, but what happened in the ring reaffirmed that Allen does not belong in the ring at world level.

Hrgovic has been added to a resume of fighters including Dillian Whyte, Luis Ortiz, Tony Yoka, Frazer Clarke, David Price and Johnny Fisher that have all defeated the White Rhino.

In the aftermath, Allen revealed he wants to do a UK tour of four fights before hanging up the gloves, and that tour seems to be starting imminently.

Via Instagram, Dave Allen has announced: “June 20th at Rotherham Magna I will be back in the ring, I physically cannot sit and wait to get back in the ring after last week.

“Full transparency it will be with a journeyman type of opponent”.

“I just love to box and I want to enjoy it and while I imagine and understand a lot won’t be bothered travelling for me doing these smaller fights I have to rebuild this way to get my head out my arse and get to my final destination one final big fight”.

The British title has still eluded Allen across a professional career spanning over 30 fights.

Claiming the prestigious belt would be a fitting end to what has been a chaotic, unique but purely entertaining career.
