Former UFC fighter calls out heavyweight boxing veteran.
The advent of Misfits Boxing has provided plenty of novelty fights for a certain type of fighting fanbase.
Through this platform, we’ve seen YouTubers, TikTokers, and people from several other backgrounds engaging in fights with each other.
So, a former MMA fighter doesn’t seem so out of place.
Darren Till fought as a professional mixed martial artist from 2013 to 2022, fighting in the UFC from 2015 onwards. In that time, he was a three-time winner of “Fight of the Night”, a one-time winner of “Performance of the Night”, and challenged Tyron Woodley for the UFC welterweight championship.
Much like Woodley, Till decided to take a crack at boxing, making his Misfits debut with a stoppage of part-time professional boxer and MMA fighter Anthony Taylor in January of 2025.
From there, Till would beat fellow former UFC fighter Darren Stewart and make his professional boxing debut with a knockout over former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.
In the middle of all this, a fight with Tommy Fury would be scuppered when Till threatened to resort to MMA tactics should he have started losing.
Though he has managed to surprise some with the ability he has shown, Till has yet to fight a full-time professional boxer. However, in an interview with “The Stomping Ground”, he has now called out a very recognisable name.
Specifically, Till has called out Derek Chisora, the heavyweight veteran and fan-favourite in Britain who is set to fight Deontay Wilder in April.
Till detailed the inspiration behind the bizarre selection of potential opponent by saying, “I’ll fight Chisora. Why wouldn’t I? He’s obviously a little bit weathered now, but the man hits like a truck. It would probably be a good time to fight Derek. He’s had a weathered career, fought the best, beat the best, had a few tasty knockouts, but what I am saying is, I’d fight him.”
The experience in professional pugilism is massive between the pair, and whether Chisora would even consider such a fight is unclear, given his scheduled bout with Wilder in a few months.
However, if he chooses to fight on, a contest with Till does seem like the type of thing Chisora may just entertain. And with his upcoming showdown taking place on MF Pro, a spectacle the likes of this one suddenly doesn’t seem a million miles away.
