Daniel Dubois is fit to start training for Fabio Wardley rematch.
The fight that occurred three weeks ago between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois is one that will very likely still be spoken about many years from now.
Everyone who was around at the time will speak about where they were and what they were doing when the two Englishmen locked horns for the WBO heavyweight championship.
It seems like people are already speaking such a way now.
Upon the fight’s conclusion, we had learned something about both combatants. Specifically, we had learned that Dubois does have the heart to battle back from adversity, and we also learned that Wardley possesses a chin far tougher than any human being should have.
Due to how brutal and entertaining the showdown was, everyone wanted to see it again, but essentially everyone knew that we probably couldn’t see it next.
After all, a contest like that shortens lives–let alone careers–and those who partake in such a spectacle need as much rest as they can get before they meet again.
Yet it wasn’t even a week after their collision that Wardley activated his rematch clause, causing many to wonder just what the hard-as-nails former champion thought he was doing.
Well, we now have confirmation that both men are up for that rematch (if there was ever any doubt), as has now been stated by Mohammed Ali (Daniel Dubois’s head of performance analysis).
Ali told talkSPORT.com yesterday, “Daniel is ready to go back into training now. When he beats someone up, he is ready for the next day. I don’t think he needs a full recovery.
“He was ready after Anthony Joshua, Jarrell Miller, and yeah, he is ready again. Daniel Dubois is the second-best heavyweight in the world along with [Oleksandr] Usyk, and he will prove it again in the rematch.”
While many believe that a rematch this year would be too fast a turnaround for both men, it seems unlikely that both would be so eager to take it if they didn’t feel ready to do so.
Either way, whoever emerges victorious in the second chapter, the fans will have won long before the first bell sounds.
