Daniel Dubois applies pressure on Fabio Wardley rematch

Both men are prepared to rematch after their inaugual encounter.

Daniel Dubois survived two early knockdowns to dethrone fellow Briton Fabio Wardley on 9 May.

After losing his WBO heavyweight title, Wardley triggered a contractual clause for an immediate rematch.

While details of their second bout are yet to be confirmed, momentum is building around the contest.

However, it appears the rematch is not moving quickly enough for the former two-time heavyweight title challenger.

During an appearance on talkSPORT, Dubois explained: “Well, that’s what they’re talking about, but I’m not going to wait on no one.

“I’m going to get busy with that belt and defend that belt.

“I can’t wait to start improving, getting out there, and just maximising what we’ve done and what we’ve worked on since I was a little kid, being taken to the gym by my dad, and now we’re here.

“It’s been a good journey.”

Dubois’s business manager, Riz Khan, also revealed to talkSPORT: “There is a cut-off date, a number of months away.

“I can’t give you the exact date.

Khan was then asked if the date is before the end of 2026, to which he replied with: “Yeah.

“If there is going to be lapse in time, and it goes over the expiry date, I’m sure Frank will be looking at other opponents.

“Until we get to that stage, we will be sticking to the rematch clause.”

Daniel Dubois is contractually obliged to face Wardley in a rematch.

However, his long-term goal remains becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion.

To achieve that, he would need to dethrone his former two-time opponent Oleksandr Usyk, who holds The Ring, IBF, WBA and WBC titles.
