Boogeyman set to make his first world title defence.
A fighter considered one of boxing’s boogeymen is set to make the first defence of his world title, with the fight being made official earlier today.
Cuba’s feared Osleys Iglesias (15-0, 14 KOs) will be defending both his IBF and IBO super-middleweight titles against world-ranked Danish southpaw Oliver Zaren (19-0-1, 8 KOs).
In the co-main event, unbeaten 21-year-old Wilkens Mathieu (16-0, 11 KOs) will be squaring off against former IBF title challenger (and former Iglesias opponent) Vladimir Shishkin (17-2, 11 KOs) for the NABF super-middleweight title.
There will also be a matchup between NABF light-heavyweight champion Imam Khataev (12-1, 11 KOs) and Padraig McCrory (20-2, 10 KOs), a fight of two men coming off losses in their most recent significant bouts.
Elsewhere on the card, Dzmitry Asanau (13-0, 7 KOs) will face Luis Santana (16-0, 7 KOs) in a battle of the undefeated for the IBF Inter-Continental, NABF, and WBC Continental Americas lightweight marbles.
In a bout with the WBC Continental Americas featherweight championship up for grabs, Thomas Chabot (13-1, 8 KOs) will throw down with Jose Antonio Sanchez Romero (18-3-1, 6 KOs), and female WBA interim super-featherweight titlist Leila Beaudoin (15-2, 2 KOs) will feature against a yet-to-be-confirmed opponent.
The rest of the show is made up of a super-featherweight match between Erik Israyelyan (6-0, 4 KOs) and Jesse Sallows (6-1, 5 KOs), a welterweight match between Jacob Blais (0-1, 0 KOs) and Yoan Trottier (0-2, 0 KOs), and an appearance at lightweight from Daylen Pepin (2-1, 0 KOs) against an opponent who has not yet been announced.
All in all, it is a bill that will have plenty going on before Osleys Iglesias sets out to prove once again why so many in his division quiver when they hear his name.
The action will be taking place on the 8th of October at the Capitole de Quebec in Quebec City, Canada.
