Cyrus Pattinson next fight confirmed

Next opponent for welterweight contender revealed.

Ask someone who their favourite boxer is, and you will get many different answers. Not just on the fighters themselves, but also their style.

There are counterpunchers, pressure fighters, defensive masters, and everything in between. A person’s favourite fighter can more often be dictated by their style than anything else. It depends entirely on what you like.

Whether you like the fistic ferocity of Joe Frazier, the ghostly brilliance of Willie Pep, or whatever else, every boxing fan has a favourite style.

There’s a reason aggressive fighters are referred to as “fan-friendly”, though.

You have to be a true boxing fan to appreciate the subtle greatness of Floyd Mayweather Jr., whereas anyone is entertained by the violence of George Foreman.

The point is that pressure fighters tend to be most people’s favourite, and that’s even true for many hard-core fans. It’s great to see a technical masterclass like Shakur Stevenson recently performed against Teofimo Lopez, but the average Arturo Gatti fight is bound to get pulses racing far faster.

Both are great, but only one appeals to practically everyone. And for someone who embodies the “fan-friendly” style of fighting, there are worse examples to look to than Cyrus Ramone Pattinson (9-1, 5 KOs).

Pattinson came to the attention of many when he fought Chris Jenkins on a Matchroom NXTGEN card in March of 2023. The fight was an exciting one, with Pattinson winning in an action-packed corner retirement.

Unfortunately for Pattinson, he would be responsible for introducing a lot of people to Conah Walker just five months later.

Walker represents the pressure style like nobody else in British boxing, and Pattinson found this out in the hardest of ways. Dropped three times, his massive heart ultimately couldn’t save him from a beating, and he would retire in his corner.

Pattinson has won three in a row since then and will be back in his hometown of Newcastle on the 18th of April.

His opponent will be Rohit Chauhan (6-2, 4 KOs), an foe who has only fought outside of his native India once.

The fight is part of a card billed as “Titles on the Tyne” and will take place at the Vertu Motors Arena.
