Conor Benn makes Ryan Garcia fight promise after career resurgence

Conor Benn faces Regis Prograis on April 11, but has his eyes set on a Ryan Garcia fight for the WBC world title this summer in the UK.

British boxing has been searching for its next headline act and Conor Benn is doing everything possible to position himself as that fighter.

With Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury stepping back from the spotlight, the Essex-born welterweight has used the past year to rebuild both his reputation and his momentum inside the ring.

After years of controversy following his failed drug test in 2022, Conor Benn finally settled unfinished business with Chris Eubank Jr across two brutal fights in 2025 – splitting the results with Eubank Jr winning the first in April but Benn dominating the second in November and firmly re-establishing his standing in boxing.

The fact the first clash between the pair won Ring Magazine Fight of the Year 2025 proves that Benn can still produce moments that will live forever.

Now, with his stock rising again and having officially signed with ZUFFA Boxing amid major controversy, the focus for Conor Benn has shifted to what comes next.

The 28-year-old faces Regis Prograis in a high-profile bout at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium later this month – but it is what comes after that has begun to generate serious interest.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Benn made it clear that his ambitions stretch beyond a single comeback fight.

“Once this fight is done and out the way, God willing the victory is mine, I believe the world title is mine as well,” Benn told the TV channel.

That path could lead directly to one of the biggest fights available at welterweight.

Benn currently sits as the WBC’s number one mandatory challenger – putting him in line to face champion Ryan Garcia should both men take care of business in their respective fights.

“Provided April 11 goes well and I get the stoppage, I want to get straight back out,” Benn added.

“Another stadium fight sounds lovely, doesn’t it?”

A potential Benn vs Garcia showdown would represent more than just a title fight.

It would mark the culmination of one of British boxing’s most turbulent comebacks – and potentially establish Benn as the sport’s next major commercial draw.

Not only that, but he’d get the chance to emulate his father, boxing legend Nigel Benn, by winning a world title.

“He won that world title so for me it’s my goal to win that world title”, Conor Benn stated.

If he gets past Regis Prograis in his next fight, then boxing matchmakers will surely be arranging that world title fight sooner rather than later.
