Conor Benn reveals trainer for next fight

Conor Benn has revealed his training team for his first fight for ZUFFA Boxing and Dana White after shock move.

Conor ‘The Destroyer’ Benn (24-1, 14ko’s) rocked the boxing world last Friday.

A shock signing to ZUFFA boxing, leaving Matchroom Boxing and Eddie Hearn in the dust has been dammed as one of the biggest betrayals in boxing history by many.

Benn and Matchroom Boxing went on a ride or die journey battling adversity from all angles.

Two failed drugs tests in the build up to the first scheduled Eubank Jr fight in 2022 sparked the career of Benn into uncertainty.

What entailed was a two and a half year battle to exonerate Benn’s name.

Hearn alongside the entirety of Matchroom stuck with Benn and supported his case, showcasing immense loyalty.

However, the breaking news that dropped on Friday emphasised that the loyalty was far from reciprocated.

Speaking to Boxing King Media in the aftermath, Benn reiterated that the decision was made for the best interests of his family.

It is believed that the deal is worth $15 million for one fight.

Furthermore, questions were raised surrounding the future of Benn’s training team following the switch to ZUFFA.

Career-long trainer Tony Sims heads the Matchroom Gym in Brentwood, and is a close friend of Eddie Hearn.

Benn’s snapchat has revealed an update on his trainer situation.

In a training video on his last day before returning to the UK, Conor Benn has revealed that he is set to remain with Tony Sims.

The video is captioned: “Back home and straight into camp with the big boss Tony”.

Both Sims and Benn have been inseparable since debut, and it is widely regarded that the Destroyer has come on leaps and bounds due to Sims.

On numerous occasions in the aftermath of the news, Benn has stated his desire to retain a positive relationship with Matchroom.

It is yet to be seen whether their once strong relationship will rekindle.
