Chris Eubank Jr return against former rival of Kell Brook ‘agreed’

Chris Eubank Jr is set to carry on fighting. Despite a brutal defeat last time out, the 36 year old has reportedly ‘100 per cent agreed’ his next bout.

Many called for Chris Eubank Jr (35-4, 25ko’s) to retire last November.

The man from Brighton was on the receiving end of a one-sided beatdown by arch rival Conor Benn (24-1, 14ko’s) in the pairs eagerly anticipated rematch.

In the aftermath of the fight, Eubank Jr revealed he ‘went through hell and back’ to make it into the ring that night.

Many stated that the middleweight limit paired with an implemented rehydration clause were of extreme detriment to the health of Eubank Jr.

‘Next Generation’ has undergone a number of treatments since his recent defeat, and is adamant he will make a return to the ring in 2026.

The 36 year old will be moving back up to super-middleweight, a division that he has formerly challenged for the world title at.

A defeat to George Groves (28-4, 20ko’s) was Eubank Jr’s most notable fight at 168lbs.

Rumours of a return bout against the outspoken American Edgar Berlanga (23-2, 18ko’s) were circulating.

Manager Elliot Amoakoh played down talks of this fight, and it seems there is now a new frontrunner.

Former opponent of Kell Brook (40-3, 28ko’s), Michael Zerafa (34-5, 22ko’s) is confident he will be the one to welcome Eubank Jr back to super-middleweight.

Zerafa was defeated via unanimous decision by Kell Brook back in 2018.

The Australian contender’s last outing ended in a no contest due to an accidental clash of heads.

Speaking to Sporting News, Zerafa has stated:

“My team and his team, we’re all 100 per cent agreed”.

“It all comes down to getting the financials, but in saying that, we’ve got A, B and C”.

“If A falls through, we’ve got B and C plans backed up.”.

Whether the two parties can raise the necessary finances to finalise this matchup is yet to be seen.

One thing is for sure is that when Eubank Jr returns he will captivate the boxing public once again.
