Chris Eubank Jr offered world title opportunity

Chris Eubank Jr has been offered a world title opportunity from super-middleweight champion

Despite being one of the UK’s biggest stars, Chris Eubank Jr (35-4, 25ko’s) has never achieved world championship status.

Eubank Jr challenged George Groves for the WBA world championship in 2018, however he was defeated via unanimous decision.

2025 was a year that sent Eubank Jr’s commercial draw to the summit of the sport.

Eubank Jr revisited a rivalry that went down as the greatest in British Boxing history.

Eubank Jr and Conor Benn followed in their fathers footsteps and clashed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in two fights that captured generations of British sport fans.

The fight was at middleweight (160lbs), a championship weight that Eubank Jr has been making since 2019.

At the age of 35, this weight limit was difficult for Eubank Jr to make, and he was over the weight limit by 0.05lbs.

Subsequently, Eubank Jr was fined $500,000.

The man from Brighton went on to win the first fight, in a 12 round war that won the Ring Magazine fight of the year.

Critics have suggested that the first fight ‘took Eubank Jr’s soul’, as in the rematch he was comprehensively defeated by the smaller man in Conor Benn.

In the post fight interview with Jamie Ward, Eubank declared that he ‘went through hell and back’ to get in the ring that night.

Eubank Jr’s promoter Ben Shalom has since confirmed that Eubank Jr will now move up to super middleweight (168lbs).

The WBC super middleweight king Christian Mbilli has offered Eubank Jr a shot at his world title.

When speaking to World Boxing News, Mbilli stated: “Of course! See, that’s what I’m talking about. Eubank, it would be a big fight. It would also be a fan-friendly fight. And I would love to represent Cameroon, France, and Quebec, Canada across the world.”

Whether this is the fight that is next for Eubank Jr is yet to be seen.
