Eubank Jr. announces split from promoter.
Chris Eubank Jr.’s rivalry with Conor Benn seemingly came to a close in November, with Benn winning a dominant decision over a Eubank Jr. who was seemingly nowhere near what he was in their first encounter.
That initial fight that took place in April of last year was a truly special encounter, a bout that made all pre-fight expectations seem unenthusiastic, and there was a lot of hype going in.
It was the type of spectacle that can’t be replicated, 36 minutes that occurred the way they did because the stars just so happened to align in exactly the right way.
The rematch was not as exciting, and it provided us with a clearer view of where both men were. So it seemed, at least.
Benn would go on to sign a one-fight deal with Zuffa Boxing, beat Regis Prograis, win $15 million, then sign a multi-fight deal with Zuffa.
But while rumours have circulated surrounding a return bout against Michael Zerafa, Eubank Jr. has not fought since.
Many actually called for his retirement following the Benn defeat, and it must be said that it is something the 36-year-old should have logically considered.
However, it appears that this is not the route he has chosen to go down, for he revealed earlier today that he is officially a free agent and not tied to any promoter.
Eubank Jr. was formerly part of the Boxxer stable under Ben Shalom, but now he has become the latest fighter to split ways with the promoters.
Wherever he goes from here, let’s hope that Eubank Jr. does whatever he is most comfortable with, as the father of two now has a lot more to fight for.
Just so we’re all clear, I am a completely FREE agent.. No ties, No promoter, & No limits.
