Chantelle Cameron vows to ‘knock out’ Katie Taylor with three minute rounds

Chantelle Cameron will be fighting three minute rounds in her next bout, and sends message to Katie Taylor.

Chantelle Cameron (21-1, 8ko’s) will fight three minute rounds for the first time in her career as she fights for the vacant WBO world welterweight title at the Olympia in London on the 5th April.

The bout is on the undercard of the Caroline Dubois vs Terri Harper fight unification fight.

The card will also feature Ellie Scotney vs Mayelli Flores Rosquero for the undisputed super bantamweight title.

The all female event will be promoted by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and will be broadcasted on Sky Sports.

Cameron looks to become a world champion once again in a new division.

From Northampton, Cameron became the undisputed super lightweight champion of the world, defeating Jessica McCaskill via unanimous decision in Abu Dhabi.

Her most notable opponent is Katie Taylor, with the two sharing 20 captivating rounds across two brilliant fights at the 3 arena in Dublin.

Cameron went to Katie Taylor’s back yard and became the first professional to defeat Katie Taylor in their first fight via majority decision.

As all time greats do, Taylor went back to the drawing board and successfully avenged this defeat in the rematch, winning by majority decision sending an Irish crowd into chaos.

Cameron returned to winning ways, and now with MVP, she is in line for another shot at greatness, and will now be fighting 10x 3 minute rounds.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of MVP stated: “The plan is for her to do three-minute rounds and we feel very confident that that will be the case”.

“The WBO will be supportive of it and the British Boxing Board of Control we know will be supportive of it as well.”

Cameron stated: “I want to lead the way for women and hopefully more women want to jump on the back of doing three-minute rounds”.

“Katie Taylor was hanging on to me for dear life with two-minute rounds. With three-minute rounds I would have got her out of there,” Cameron insisted.

“I’ve always wanted it [to do threes]. I feel it plays in my favour. I feel like it’s definitely going to benefit me.”
