Carlos Adames names condition for rematch with Hamzah Sheeraz

The 31-year-old has left the door ajar for the Brit.

Carlos Adames cruised through his bout with Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams this past weekend, successfully retaining his WBC middleweight title with a commanding performance.

After securing the unanimous decision victory, Adames revealed he is open to fights anywhere between 154 and 168lbs – a range that opens the door to several potential matchups.

Among those possibilities, a rematch with Hamzah Sheeraz would seemingly fit perfectly.

When asked about a potential rematch during the post-fight media scrum, Adames didn’t hold back, making his thoughts on the matter crystal clear.

He revealed: “It’s him that should want it with me.

“I was the one who beat him.

“If he wants vengeance, then he should send me the offer.”

The rivals fought to a highly contentious split draw on February 22, 2025.

The scoring reflected just how close and controversial the fight was.

One judge edged it 115-114 in favour of Sheeraz, another gave a dominant 118-110 nod to Adames, while the third saw it as an even contest, scoring it 114-114.

Adames retained his title that night, but over a year later, it seems the score between them remains unsettled.

While Carlos Adames didn’t outright dismiss the idea of a rematch, he made it clear that the ball is in Sheeraz’s court.

However, it is unlikely that the Brit will make the first move to kickstart any serious negotiations anytime soon.
