Carl Froch slams Tyson Fury’s imminent return to professional boxing ahead of a big 2026 for the Gypsy King.
Boxing hall of famer Carl Froch (33-2, 24ko’s) has disregarded Tyson Fury’s return to professional boxing after a 13 month hiatus on his YouTube channel Froch on Fighting.
Carl Froch is a former unified super middleweight champion of the world.
Nicknamed the cobra, Froch ended his career in spectacular fashion, knocking out arch rival George Groves at Wembley Stadium in May 2014.
Other notable victories on the cobra’s resume are Jean Pascal, Jermaine Taylor, Mikkel Kessler and Arthur Abraham.
Froch is now an ever present part of the UK boxing media, with his channel Froch on Fighting being one of the most watched media outlets in the sport.
Froch’s outspoken nature and sometimes controversial takes brings in hundreds of thousands of views per video.
In his most recent episode, Froch had a segment discussing the news surrounding Fury’s return to the sport.
Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24ko’s) announced his retirement from the sport shortly after back to back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15ko’s) in 2024.
With the Gypsy King seemingly motivated to mount an attempt to reclaim heavyweight gold in 2026, Froch has shared his thoughts.
Froch stated: “I don’t want to rubbish him because he’s had a great career”.
“He fell short a couple of times with Usyk, which still burns him”.
“Coming back into boxing at 37 years old, is anyone bothered? Does anyone care? I’m just not bothered”.
“He’s retired five times now”.
“The only fight that’s really worth looking at would be the AJ (Anthony Joshua) fight, and I don’t know id that’s going to happen”.
Joshua was involved in a tragic car crash in Nigeria in December that has put the mega fight in doubt while the boxing world continues to share their thoughts with Joshua and anyone affected by the passing of Latz and Sina, two of Joshua’s close friends.
Fury is set to have a comeback fight with Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov rumoured to be the opponent.
Froch has stated “I certainly don’t want to see Fury in against a European level opponent like Makhmudov”.
“I don’t want to give him any stick if this is something he wants to do for his mental health”.
“I don’t think he’s got enough time for a warmup, I think the only fight he should come back for is the Anthony Joshua (29-4, 26ko’s) fight”.
