Former world champion accepts John Fury fight offer.
During the same week as the launch press conference for Tyson Fury’s upcoming fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov, it is actually John Fury (Tyson’s father) that has become the main subject of discussion, and that has been entirely due to his loud antics over the last few days.
This started with a verbal assault of Carl Froch, who was getting ready to feature live on Netflix when John Fury began hurling words at him and challenging him to a fight.
A video then surfaced shortly after of John threatening journalist Steve Bunce, who had done no more than look in John’s direction.
These actions rubbed many people up the wrong way, with criticisms being lobbed at the father of the former two-time heavyweight champion for his needlessly aggressive and cantankerous behaviour.
While John Fury did make a video apologising to Steve Bunce (one which Bunce was happy to accept), he was not so quick to go back on his feelings about Carl Froch, saying, “I think Netflix is out of order even employing Carl Froch and bringin’ him there, knowin’ the friction he’s been causin’, and he’s a Fury-hater. He hates Tyson. He hates the Fury family.”
John Fury then later made a video where he called out Carl Froch and challenged him to a fight on his son’s undercard in Tottenham in April, referring to Froch as a “sh*thouse”, a “f***ing bum”, and “not a man”.
Froch then responded via his “Froch On Fighting” YouTube channel, accepting the offer and saying, “If he was in the room now stood in front of me, I would punch his f****n’ head in. I really would, because he’s such a big, loudmouthed gobsh*te who’s done f***-all, livin’ off his son’s name.”
Carl Froch was a three-time super-middleweight world champion who built a record of 33-2, while John Fury was a heavyweight club fighter who amassed an 8-4-1 record whilst fighting the likes of Steve Garber and Henry Akinwande.
