Canelo Alvarez has been officially called out for a mega ‘200 million dollar’ mega fight against crossover star Jake Paul
May 2026 marked the first spring time in 6 years without a Canelo Alvarez fight night.
His yearly fight routine was as regular as clockwork, but a defeat to Terence Crawford last September has resulted in some time out for the Mexican.
68 professional fights in, who can blame him?
Canelo has taken on all comers, and its seen him become the face of this generation of boxing.
To just reel off a few, Floyd Mayweather, Gennadiy Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, Dmitry Bivol, and many many more.
At 35 years old, it seems like Alvarez has one more run left in him before retirement looms.
Canelo still has two fights left on his deal with Riyadh Season.
Turki Al-Sheikh recently announced that Canelo will challenge Christian Mbilli for the WBC super-middleweight world championship.
Reclaiming a valuable piece of 168lbs gold may open up a number of big fights, but will fighting other champions like Hamzah Sheeraz generate close to $200m?
Crossover star Jake Paul has took to X to once again call out the former pound for pound number one.
Now 12-2 as a professional boxer, Paul stated: “Canelo, I have the $200 million”.
“Jake Paul versus Canelo, let’s get it done. The biggest fight that can possibly be made in boxing”.
“Canelo said he is down on the phone, so we’re going to make it happen. “I have the “200 million, and I think that’s going to be the next fight, so sign the contract Canelo”.
Paul famously took on former two time unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua last time out.
After surviving a number of rounds, Joshua broke Paul’s jaw in two places.
This is something the man from Ohio is still recovering from, with experts recommending he never fights again.
