British heavyweight puncher announces free agency.
Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions has been dubbed the “home of the heavyweights”, and in a sport that thrives on big claims and lofty titles, that is actually quite an accurate one.
Heavyweights under this banner populate the world rankings across each organisation. Not only that, but two of the division’s reigning titlists (WBC champion Agit Kabayel and WBO champion Daniel Dubois) are Queensberry fighters.
If that wasn’t enough, the vacant IBF belt is set to be fought for later this month between Moses Itauma and Filip Hrgovic, both of whom fight under Queensberry’s roof.
Indeed, from the domestic to the world level, Queensberry’s heavyweights are a dominant force. Former champions and superstars like Tyson Fury and Fabio Wardley also operate under the stable.
One fighter who was always part of its ranks was David Adeleye.
A heavy puncher who has been in some exciting contests, Adeleye is a former English and British champion who holds wins over Solomon Dacres and Jeamie TKV.
He has also appeared on Riyadh Season events in fights against the previously mentioned Fabio Wardley and Filip Hrgovic.
It was the latter opponent that Adeleye appeared against last, an encounter the Englishman lost, but made for a very memorable affair last year.
But amidst recent rumours that he would be fighting new Queensberry signee Guido Vianello, Adeleye has now announced that he has chosen to not re-sign with his career-long promoters and is now officially a free agent.
With 13 knockouts in 14 wins, the Londoner is the type of fighter who defines exactly why any boxing fan gets excited about a heavyweight fight, and it will make him an attractive potential signing for other promoters in the sport.
