Rescheduled British featherweight title fight announced.

Boxxer revealed their next BBC card on Friday, set to take place on the 4th of April. The headline act features Wales’s Lauren Price taking on Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Pineiro.

The fight will be for Price’s WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO, and The Ring female welterweight titles, and both fighters are going in undefeated.

Price has been on a terrific run in her last three fights, having beaten both Natasha Jonas and Jessica McCaskill while fitting in a defence over the unbeaten Bexcy Mateus.

But earlier today, the first undercard fight was announced, and it’s one people have been wanting for a while.

This is the fight between Rhys Edwards (17-1, 4 KOs) and Gully Powar (13-1, 1 KO), and it’s for the vacant British featherweight title.

Edwards owns wins over Brad Foster and Thomas Patrick Ward, and he performed on the biggest of stages when he stepped in on late notice to take on Peter McGrail on the undercard of the rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

Edwards ultimately lost a decision in a very spirited effort, and he was last seen in action when he defeated Thomas Essomba on a separate Boxxer card.

Powar, on the other hand, came to attention when he appeared in the Riyadh Season WBC Boxing Grand Prix in 2025. Despite winning his first fight against Japhethlee Llamido, he would end up losing his next to tournament winner Brandon Mosqueda.

But despite the loss, Powar gained many fans. Though he was dropped in the first round, he got back to his feet and proved a very tricky proposition for Mosqueda, and he ended up being the first to take him the distance.

So, this fight represents a pairing of once-beaten operators with supreme technical ability, and they’re going head-to-head for the 126-pound Lord Lonsdale Belt.

This fight has been scheduled to take place before, most recently on the undercard of Callum Simpson’s battle with Troy Williamson. However, there have been some unfortunate circumstances that have prevented it from taking place.

Let’s hope the same doesn’t happen again.
