BKB CEO confirms Fury conversations.
The world of bare-knuckle boxing is one that takes audiences back in time to when pugilism was staged without gloves, with BKB and BKFC being the two biggest companies where this can be seen.
Both companies have even seen former professional boxers fight on their shows, and it may not be long before Tyson Fury becomes one of them.
When asked how serious he was about Fury fighting in a bare-knuckle bout, BKB CEO David Tetreault stated to iFL TV, “We’re extremely serious. And like I said, I have had the conversations with Spencer Brown [Fury’s manager]. But at the same time, we recognise that he’s in the middle of probably one of the biggest negotiations of his life with the Anthony Joshua fight.
“So, we’re not pushing that envelope at the moment. But we’ve had the conversation that when he is finished with his two remaining traditional boxing fights–traditional glove fights–that we will have that conversation.
“But we’re also having conversations around him becomin’ a brand ambassador before that, so there’s a lot going on with Tyson Fury. And those conversations are also bein’ had with Oleksandr Usyk, as well.”
When told that the world would likely stop for a bare-knuckle trilogy bout between Fury and Usyk, Tetreault replied, “That’s the whole thing, and we know that that would be, you know, not only a global spectacle, [but] it would [also] mainstream bare-knuckle for us in a big way. And it would, you know, create a massive payday for both of those fighters.”
With recent talk that Fury and Usyk could be staging a third fight between them this November, perhaps this vision is not so far from being realised.
