Ben Whittaker is set to make his debut on American soil in the near future as plans are in place to co-main event American mega fight
Ben Whittaker (10-0-1, 7ko’s) will fight state side for the first time in his career.
The Olympic silver medalist has had a stop start opening to his professional career, but with a highlight reel first round knockout on Benjamin Gavazi (19-2, 13ko’s) in his last bout, he’s looking to kick on in 2026.
Ben Whittaker signed with Ben Shalom and BOXXER from professional debut and captured the headlines numerous times in his 10 fights on Sky Sports.
With his showboating and confident persona in and out of the ring, Whittaker has become one of British Boxing’s hottest names.
When BOXXER and Ben Shalom’s Sky Sports contract expired, Whittaker signed a long-term promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing.
Matchroom Boxing’s broadcast deal with DAZN, and presence in the American market gives Whittaker the opportunity to become a global star, and it seems Eddie Hearn has plans to make this a reality.
Ben Whittaker has told the Ring Magazine that plans are in place for the West Midlands born Light Heavyweight contender to be the co-main event for the eagerly anticipated Jaron Ennis Vergil Ortiz Jr clash, if and when the fight is finalised.
Whittaker stated when speaking to the Ring Magazine: “It’s only right to fight in the U.S. soon and make my name. It’s only up from here”.
“I’m in a big position with Matchroom behind me”.
“I have to win and look good. If you don’t win, the show doesn’t go on”.
“I can fight from all angles, and now it’s showing that I can hurt people, too”.
No opponent for his next fight has been rumoured, however plans have been put in place for Whittaker to target a domestic fight as a headline show in the summer.
The light heavyweight division in Britain is stacked with names like Craig Richards, Willy Hutchinson, Ezra Taylor and Dan Azeez all viable options.
