Light-heavyweight sensation Ben Whittaker is set to return imminently in the UK, with two fight dates agreed for the man from Wolverhampton.
Matchroom Boxing’s announcement of Ben Whittaker (10-0-1, 7ko’s) in 2025 sent the boxing world mad.
Undoubtedly, Whittaker possesses all the necessary characteristics to become one of the faces of British boxing.
The first chapter of his career was on Sky Sports under the BOXXER banner.
Viral clips of Whittaker’s showboating saw him have a meteoric rise to fame, but now it seems time to level up.
The man from Wolverhampton is more than a commercial asset.
A stellar amateur, winning an Olympic silver medal, there is a skillset there that can lead to world title honours in the future.
Matchroom got Whittaker headlining in Birmingham instantly, and with a highlight reel first round knockout over Benjamin Gavazi (19-2, 13ko’s), his stardom was at an all time high.
That’s two dominant stoppage victories since teaming up with the talented Andy Lee.
Eddie Hearn’s plan for Whittaker is activity, but this hasn’t got off to the best start in 2026.
Nicknamed ‘The Surgeon’, he was in line to co-main event the planned Jaron Ennis vs Vergil Ortiz Jr fight in America.
However, the legal issues on Vergil Ortiz Jr’s side has seen this fight fall through.
Hearn has highlighted his desire for Whittaker to be active and is set to announce two fight dates for the light heavyweight.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Hearn has announced: “There will be news dropping on Ben Whittaker”.
“Ben Whittaker will return on a UK card very very soon, he will be co-main event”.
“Fight fans will be very pleased, and then we will see him co-main event a big show in America”.
A likely candidate to be the show Whittaker features on is Callum Smith vs David Morrell in Liverpool.
