Arslanbek Makhmudov is hopeful that he will land the fight.
Tyson Fury has been linked to a showdown with Arslanbek Makhmudov in recent days and the Russian heavyweight is hopeful that a deal for the fight can be done.
Fury hung up the gloves after consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk back in 2024, seemingly content with his career as a two-time heavyweight world champion.
However, ‘The Gypsy King’ announced his comeback last week and as a result, the 37-year-old is in search of an opponent, ahead of an anticipated Spring return.
Currently, Arslanbek Makhmudov is being considered as the frontrunner for the opposing corner and in an interview on the Boxing King Media YouTube channel, ‘The Lion’ admitted his interest in the contest.
“I see sometimes people talking about [me fighting Tyson Fury] but I think it’s just people talking.
“Of course I want this fight. For me, it’s a dream fight because Tyson Fury is one of the best heavyweights in history, I think.
“For me, it would be a pleasure to fight against a big name like Tyson Fury.”
Makhmudov then went on to detail why he believes himself to be an optimal opponent for Fury, highlighting how his October victory over Dave Allen on British soil may increase his chances of landing the fight.
“The fight would be interesting for everyone because I have a Russian boxing style, and he is from the U.K., and I beat somebody else from the U.K. three months ago in Dave Allen.
“People [in the U.K.] know me. Some love me, some hate me, but it’s not my business. They can do what they want.”
WBO heavyweight world champion Fabio Wardley has also expressed his interest in a showdown with Fury – who could potentially become a three-time ruler if he accepts an instant title shot and trumps the Ipswich fan-favourite.
