Anthony Cacace has expressed his desire to fight fellow super-featherweight world champion next in a unification specatcle.
In front of a sold out 3 Arena crowd in Dublin, Anthony Cacace (25-1, 9ko’s) became a two time world champion defeating James ‘Jazza’ Dickens (36-6, 15ko’s) via unanimous decision.
At 37 years old, ‘The Apache’ has collected an impressive set of British stars to his resume.
Over the last 2 years victories have consisted of world champions Joe Cordina (19-1, 9ko’s), Josh Warrington (32-5-1, 8ko’s), Leigh Wood (29-4, 17ko’s) and now Jazza Dickens.
With the man from Belfast undoubtedly in the twilight of his career, it’s now or never to cement his legacy as a unified world champion.
In the immediate aftermath of his win in Dublin last weekend, Cacace stated:
“Give me Navarrete – it’s not that hard to make, so let’s make it,” he said after Saturday’s victory improved his record to 25 victories with one loss.
“The styles [against Dickens] never really gelled but I believe I can do better and unify.
“I can beat Navarrete and these guys, so that’s what I’m aiming for now.”
In breaking news today, the promotion of Emanuel Navarrete (40-2-1, 33ko’s) Top Rank has signed with broadcaster DAZN on a long-term deal.
Subsequently, this means both champions will fight on the same platform, removing one potential barrier to negotiations.
Promoter of Cacace Frank Warren expressed his desire to make the fight happen.
Warren stated:
“Of course I’d like to see it and that’s what we want to do,” he said.
“He [Cacace] is a two-time world champion and wants to unify the belts, so we’ll work on doing that.”
