Eddie Hearn has confirmed ‘active discussions’ are ongoing for the return of Anthony Joshua who will be in attendance at Tottenham.
Fight news is creeping closer for the two time unified heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua (29-4, 27ko’s).
Last December saw Joshua comeback to the ring after a 15 month absence against Jake Paul (12-2, 7ko’s) in front of 33 million viewers on Netflix.
Not only did this allow Joshua dust off the cobwebs, but it sent AJ’s global commercial appeal sky high.
The man from Watford’s been a major star in the UK for over a decade but its safe to say his appeal has transcended globally.
Post Jake Paul, the plans of team Joshua was to continue the momentum, and build towards a long-awaited Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24ko’s) fight that was virtually agreed.
Joshua was involved in a tragic car crash in Nigeria just a number of weeks after his fight.
Close friends ‘Latz’ and Sina sadly lost their lives and everyone at Boxing King Media continues to send their thoughts and feelings with anyone affected by this tragedy.
Understandably, this put AJ’s boxing career well and truly on the back burner.
The former champ has now re-entered training camp with team Oleksandr Usyk in Valencia, and a return to the ring now seems imminent.
Turki Al-Sheikh took to X to confirm that talks are ongoing for Joshua to fight twice this year, with the second one likely to be Tyson Fury.
In an interview recently published with Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn has given an update on his star man.
Hearn stated: “We’re in active discussions with Turki Al-Sheikh and SELA”.
“We plan to fight in July, and then we plan to fight Tyson Fury”.
“Let’s do Wilder and Fury”.
“I’ve never seen Joshua so fired up for fights, he’s going Saturday to watch Tyson Fury”.
“Nothing agreed yet, but it’s closing in, it will be very interesting to see how Tyson Fury looks on Saturday”.
Tyson Fury takes on Arslanbek Makhmudov live on Netflix.
