Anthony Joshua shares emotional posts to social media as he remembers his close friends Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami.
Anthony Joshua takes to Snapchat to dedicate posts to the late Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele, and Sina Ghami.
Joshua, Latz and Sina were involved in a tragic car crash in Nigeria last December. This accident saw Joshua’s close friends and team members, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, lose their lives.
The driver of this incident has recently appeared in court ahead of being charged for the accident that occurred.
The crash took place just a number of days after Joshua returned to the ring for the first time in 15 months, in a fight where over 33 million people watched him knock out Jake Paul.
This fight took Joshua back to the top of the sport as a commercial juggernaut and re-opened the American market to Team Joshua ahead of a big 2026 planned.
Fight fans are still hopeful that 2026 could be the year that Joshua and Tyson Fury finally meet in the squared circle, in undoubtedly the most anticipated fight in British boxing history.
However, at this moment in time it is of utmost importance that Anthony Joshua has time to recover emotionally and physically from this tragedy, and the boxing world continues to support anyone that has been affected by these events.
Joshua shared tributes his two close friends today on Snapchat.
Joshua stated; “Uncle Sima my Persian Broski aka my lieutenant in command, he understood me and stood 10 toes beside me on the battlefield!
“Even though I’m rough and ready, I didn’t realise how much he protected me and that allowed me to get my mind right and conquer”.
“My Bruskiii, from dust 2 dust it’s 100,
“Latz knew I was fighting for the family and for the team. He would always remind me he’s got his squad praying for me”.
Whilst Joshua’s fight plans are understandably on hold, rival Tyson Fury is set to return to action in April, after ending his retirement from the sport.
