Andy Lee backs Hamzah Sheeraz to become undisputed champion

Hamzah Sheeraz can achieve the lifelong dream of becoming a world champion this Saturday, but trainer Andy Lee has his sights set higher.

Its take two this Saturday as Hamzah Sheeraz once again challenges for a world title.

Undoubtedly, Sheeraz is one of the most talented fighters on UK soil currently.

Remarkably, once upon a time the 6″3 star was fighting at super welterweight.

A run at middleweight culminated in challenging Carlos Adames for the WBC super middleweight world title in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Whilst the judges scored it a split decision draw, many believe Adames did more than enough to be victorious that night.

The Brit and Riyadh Season ambassador broke his wrist in that fight, and his move to super middleweight has been plain sailing so far.

Teaming up with former world champion Andy Lee, Sheeraz trains alongside world class fighters like Paddy Donovan, Ben Whittaker and Joseph Parker.

His only fight at 168lbs so far ended in dominant fashion, knocking out Edgar Berlanga in New York last summer.

The man that stands in the way of world title glory this Saturday in Egypt is Alem Begic.

Speaking to the Ring, Andy Lee stated: “He’s ready for them all”.

“All goes to plan, he’ll be the unified, [then] undisputed champion in the next year or two”.

“He has to win the [Begic] fight. I’m not looking past anything or taking anything for granted”.

“It’s a big opportunity for Alan Begic to make his name. We have to make sure that Hamzah is on top of everything, at the peak of his powers”.

“He’s improving every day, I’m excited for him and I’m looking forward to the experience of being in Egypt. I’ve always been fascinated by the Pyramids. It’s going to be a fantastic setting, but first and foremost it’s the boxing.”

“I think Hamzah has the experience”.

“He’s such a determined, mentally strong person. I don’t care if it was Canelo or Begic, I think he’s preparing the exact same way. We’ll have the same mindset.”
