Amir Khan warns couples not to get married at his own wedding venue

Amir Khan has urged couples not to get married at his venue in Bolton in a since deleted X post.

Amir Khan has publicly expressed to couples that they should not get married at his multi-million-pound venue in his hometown of Bolton.

Khan’s professional boxing career closed its doors in 2022 in defeat to long-term rival Kell Brook.

With a whirlwind of a boxing career, Amir Khan will go down as one of the most notable British fighters of the modern era.

Khan captured the IBF World Super Lightweight in Las Vegas defeating Zab Judah by 5th round KO.

He also went on to challenge the sports very best, coming up short against pound for pound greats Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Although retirement has been far from peaceful for the 39 year old.

Amir Khan now has his own promotional company under the banner of ‘Amir Khan Promotions’, who worked alongside Queensberry in December to stage an event in Lagos, Nigeria.

Not all of Khan’s post retirement business ventures are going to plan.

One of the venture that Amir Khan is best known for, outside of his boxing, is his wedding venue in his home town of Bolton – The Balymana.

A lavish venue that took millions of pounds to develop, The Balmayna has been consistently dogged with issues and it appears that there’s a new issue surfacing.

Khan’s partner in this business venture, Mohammed Jaberansari, has reportedly not paid any rent for the last three years, according to an X post that Amir Khan has recently deleted.

“We would like to share an update about my wedding hall venue located in Bolton (The Balmayna)”, wrote in the post.

“Please be informed that Mohammed from Excellency has NOT made any rental payments for almost three years following the initial 18-month rent-free period.

“The lift is currently stored and awaiting installation; as a result, it has been out of service for the last year, limiting your access to the 2nd and 3rd floors, along with the rooftop lounge. We have been informed that the upper floors have been utilised for events without the main lift being installed, which violates regulations until Mohammed allows us to proceed with the installation.

“We advise anyone who has booked the wedding to hold off until this issue is resolved, as I would not want you to risk losing you money or deposits.

“We recognise that many individuals have made reservations at the venue, and I regret to inform you that I am taking legal action regarding the situation.

“Thank you very much”.

It’s a bizarre situation and something that many were expecting to be made public in quite this manner.

As mentioned, Amir Khan has since deleted the post but hasn’t explained the reasoning behind doing so.

In the meantime, the management of the Balmayna have since responded with their own lengthy statement on their social media account.

Part of that statement claims “Certain recent comments circulating online are misinformed, baseless, and should be disregarded.

“Amir Khan has no involvement whatsoever in the ownership, management, or operation of The Balmayna”.

At this point it is unknown whether this legal dispute involving Amir Khan will continue, but it’s certainly not a good look for the former Olympic silver medalist.
