Amanda Serrano responds to Jake Paul public comments surrounding the Super Bowl half time show performance by Puerto Rican Bad Bunny.
Jake Paul publicly voiced his thoughts on last night’s Super Bowl halftime show, and he has been met with widespread criticism.
The controversial social media star turned professional boxer and promoter has had backlash from his brother Logan Paul, and his promotions star fighter Amanda Serrano.
Paul and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) have had a significant impact on women’s boxing, with Amanda Serrano being the figurehead for this movement.
Serrano has headlined a sold out Madison Square Garden twice, and been co-main event to Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson, an event that was watched by 65 million live viewers on Netflix.
Serrano, who is the current WBO featherweight champion, won the title in a homecoming bout in January in Puerto Rico.
Similarly to Serrano, the Super Bowl halftime show performer this year is also from Puerto Rico.
In a powerful message, Bad Bunny closed the show by naming countries and territories through South, Central, and North America, with their respective flags being held behind him. He then subsequently held up a football that stated “Together, We are America”.
The message behind this is to continue to raise awareness to the ongoing actions of ‘ICE’.
Jake Paul, a long-term supporter of Donald Trump, shared his thoughts to X in the build up to the show and called Bad Bunny “A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America”.
Serrano publicly disagreed with her promoter and long-term friend Jake Paul with a statement on X.
Serrano stated: “Puerto Ricans are not “fake Americans”. We are citizens who have contributed to this country in every field”.
“I do not agree with statements that question the legitimacy or identity of Puerto Rican people, and I cannot support that characterisation. It is wrong”.
“I will never change and will forever be a Proud Boricua”.
What this means for their future relationship is yet to be seen, but Serrano continues to acknowledge the role Jake Paul has played in her successful record breaking career.
Tonight I am here where I’m supposed to be in my beautiful Island with my people celebrating and watching with awe how well Benito represented us and our culture
I am proud to be Puerto Rican, and I am proud to be an American citizen. Puerto Ricans are not “fake Americans.” We…
