Amanda Serrano looking to break long-standing record as next fight is made official

Serrano looking to break boxing record in next fight.

Amanda Serrano has been one of the best pound-for-pound women’s boxers for quite a while now. And from the very beginning, she set herself apart for one very big reason: she can punch.

Indeed, while knockout artists amongst women are exceedingly rare, Serrano can be counted as one of them. And in her next fight, she will looking to break the all-time women’s knockout record.

As officially announced earlier today, Serrano (49-4-1, 32 KOs) will be defending her unified featherweight championship against Lucrecia Manzur (14-4, 7 KOs).

Those 32 knockouts on Serrano’s record are special. Not only are they just a lot for a woman to possess in general, but it’s actually the exact same amount that Christy Martin finished her career with.

A true pioneer and one of the greatest women’s boxers to ever live, in her time, Martin was considered to be the female Mike Tyson, even appearing on a few of the heavyweight champion’s undercards.

When she hung up the gloves on her 23-year career in 2012, she did so with the most knockouts a women’s boxer had ever produced. Should Serrano win inside the distance in her next contest, she will officially break that record.

A 7-weight world champion, Serrano has  enhanced her reputation over the past few years with a trilogy of fights against Katie Taylor. She also became the first woman to fight in a bout scheduled for 12 three-minute rounds.

Serrano’s fight with Manzur will stream on TikTok LIVE from the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California, on the 21st of August.
