Baumgardner opens the door to a WWE appearance.
Alycia Baumgardner is one of the best fighters in all of women’s boxing. The former undisputed (and current unified) super-featherweight champion has only a single loss in 20 fights (which was avenged), and she has made 8 successful defences of her titles.
That 8th defence took place on Saturday, and it was over Bo Mi Re Shin, a South Korean who has previously lost title challenges to Caroline Dubois and Delfine Persoon.
Since Baumgardner’s unanimous triumph on the cards, she has been linked to several big fights. One of the names fans have been calling for is the aforementioned Dubois, Baumgardner’s MVP stablemate and reigning unified lightweight titleholder.
Dubois and Baumgardner have previously traded verbals over a potential fight, building excitement for a future matchup between the pair.
And while this would undoubtedly be a fantastic development, it seems Baumgardner may have set her sights on a separate sport entirely.
On Sunday, during the second night of WrestleMania 42, WWE Women’s Championship beltholder Jade Cargill lost her title to Rhea Ripley.
Baumgardner was an interested observer, sending a message to Cargill on social media regarding involvement in a rematch between her and Ripley that read, “Jade, go ahead and tap me in.”
Cargill, interested in a potential tag team with Baumgardner, replied with, “I’d love that.”
Boxing champions have dabbled in professional wrestling in the past, with the likes of Tyson Fury, the late Ricky Hatton, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and several more having taken part in the more scripted sport over the years.
Will Baumgardner become just the next name from the world of pugilism to add herself to that list?
Considering she has teased such a thing in the past, there is every possibility that that could very well be the case.
