New venue emerges as possibility for Fury vs. Joshua.
There is not much to be said about the long-awaited superfight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua that hasn’t already been said countless times.
The all-British affair has been dangled before our eyes many times, then snatched out of view when it seemed to be most likely to happen.
Right now, though, it seems more likely than ever that we will be seeing this mythical matchup finally come to fruition, though that’s not to say that there haven’t been a number of stumbling blocks along the way.
One such difficulty that many wouldn’t have previously thought would be an issue is the location the fight would be happening in. Of course, most would have assumed that it was guaranteed to be held in the United Kingdom.
Only, that has not been a certainty in recent times, with the United States being considered the frontrunner for the contest at one stage, making many British fans start to worry if the clash would even take place on their soil.
But more recently, it was stated a possibility that Wembley Stadium could indeed host the event, but only if it takes place at 4 AM. This looked even more a likelihood when Sadiq Khan gave it the green light last week.
However, because of a curfew that’s in place, events currently can’t take place at Wembley after 1 AM. And as a result, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff has emerged as a new candidate for the bout.
Before then, though, Fury will have to beat Mariusz Wach, while Joshua will have to beat Kristian Prenga later this month.
