This upcoming Saturday, Adam Azim was set to face off against Gustavo Daniel Lemos in a world title eliminator.

Azim was to face Argentinian Lemos in the main event of the Boxxer show.

But the bout has been plagued by injuries and now is completely cancelled.

Firstly, Gustavo Daniel Lemos (30-2, 20 KOs) had to withdraw from the fight after suffering an injury in his training camp for the bout.

Lemos had been in the UK in preparation for the fight and had shared camp with WBC super-lightweight world champion, Dalton Smith earlier this month.

In a bid to keep the show on the road, the promoters for the fight looked to bring in an alternative fighter to face Adam Azim on Saturday.

It is believed that American boxer Nahir Albright (17-2, 7 KOs) had been the one identified as a potential replacement for Lemos.

But those plans are now out of the water too.

Ring Magazine are reporting that Adam Azim has now injured his hand and will be unable to compete on Saturday.

With that said, the plans for that main event are completely cancelled.

It’s a blow for Azim, as he’s been earmarked as a future top talent in boxing by the likes of Dominic Ingle.

Ring report that there are still plans for the two men to face off later this year, with tentative dates suggested to be around April or May.

BBC Two were meant to be televising the Boxxer show on Saturday, but that is no longer expected to be the case.

Boxxer may look for another channel to air the event if it the rest of the card still goes ahead.

Francesca Hennessy (7-0, 1 KO) vs Ellie Bouttell (7-0-1, 2 KOs) is expected to be the new main event of the show with the Azim vs Lemos fight now cancelled.

For now, both Adam Azim and Gustavo Daniel Lemos will look to recover from their injuries so that they can return 100% for their eventual clash in the ring.
