20-year-old heavyweight scores vicious KO on debut

Another sensation has announced themselves in boxing’s glamour division.

The path to the professional ranks in boxing usually begins in the amateur circuit, where fighters gain valuable rounds and experience.

That was certainly the case for Adam Olaniyan.

The 20-year-old Irish prospect turned professional after an impressive amateur career.

He captured gold at the World Youth Championships and collected several other notable honours along the way.

After announcing he would skip the 2028 Olympics, Olaniyan wasted little time making his next move.

He signed with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions.

The deal secured him a spot on the Jazza Dickens vs Anthony Cacace card in Dublin this weekend.

His first professional opponent was 44-year-old Jan Bezouska, who had fought professionally just four times himself.

The difference in class was obvious from the opening bell, with Bezouska appearing outmatched from the first punch.

Within 60 seconds of the opening bell, he dominated the Czech heavyweight and landed a clubbing right hand that glanced off his head.

The shot sent him crashing face-first onto the canvas, but as he managed to rise, he protested the punch as illegal.

However, the end came moments later as another heavy right hand from Olaniyan quickly finished the job.

Bezouska offered little resistance, collapsing face-first again in front of the referee.

Showing no balance or attempt to continue, the referee was forced to step in and wave the fight off.

As Adam Olaniyan announced his presence among a new set of contenders, he was questioned about taking on the likes of Moses Itauma and Daniel Dubois.

Speaking post-fight, he said: “I can appreciate how young they turned over and what they’ve accomplished. But I’m my own man.

“I’m not looking at their story, and I’m not looking at their clock to set my time.

“I’m doing things at my own pace, and when the time is right, we’ll fight.
